higgins Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) Trip: Sun Lakes - Dry Falls Washington State Park - Clockwork Orange Date: 1/27/2013 Trip Report: Returned to climb the first pitch of Clockwork Orange with Derek. Lead the route and setup a top-rope, which we used to run several practice laps. It was warmer than the 21st January which resulted in increased water from above. Here is a picture from the road standing in the intersection of WA SR17 and Park Lake Road with the entrance to the Sun Lakes Washington State Park behind the photographer. Here is a picture during the approach before dropping into the ravine. Another from the base of the first pitch. And a view of the backside of the second pitch, which more than doubled in size since the 21st. In the late morning the ice was plastic. By mid afternoon the temperature dropped, the water flow seemed to decrease and the ice hardened and started yielding some dinner plates. Enjoy and safe climbing! Photo credit: Derek Boyden Gear Notes: 7 ice screw total (4 for the route & 3 for the anchor) 4 quick draws 1 rope 60 m Webbing and lockers for the anchor. Approach Notes: Easy hike. Unstable talus and a few falling rocks. Little snow. Edited January 30, 2013 by higgins Quote
