The_North_Face Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 MOUNT RAINIER, A CLIMBING GUIDE An evening with Mike Gauthier, Lead Climbing Ranger at Mt. Rainier National Park Thursday, December 5, 7:00 PM Please join Mike Gauthier, author, photographer, and Lead Climbing Ranger at Mt. Rainier National Park for an exciting evening of slides and stories about climbing Mt. Rainier. Mike Gauthier is one of the strongest and most enthusiastic climbers you will ever meet. He has a special love of Mt. Rainier having spent nearly a third of his life on it's slopes. Mike has summited Mt. Rainier over 150 times, and in one punishing climbing season recorded 36 ascents. As author of Mt. Rainier, a Climbing Guide, Mike is clearly one of the leading authorities on the routes and history of the mountain. In addition to sharing general information on some of the classic climbing routes, Mike will review some of the specific events of this past summer's climbing season. We will also see a brief presentation on the new DVD from Weekend Climber Productions entitled, Ascend Mount Rainier . If you have climbed Mt. Rainier in the past or are planning to do so, you will not want to miss this unique presentation. We will have copies available of both Mt. Rainier, a Climbing Guide and the new DVD, Ascend Mount Rainier. Mike will be available to sign copies of his book for you. Light refreshments will be served. To_The_Top Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 Sounds like fun. BTW there are many more routes on Rainier other than the slogdog routes. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 BTW there are many more routes on Rainier other than the slogdog routes. are you sure? i thought you were only allowed to climb routes that at least 100 other people deemed safe enough to climb that day. in fact, i don't think i believe you. i think i might have to ask mike about that tonight.
