matt_warfield Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Nobody would probably ever have known about Pearly Gates prior to the last fire. Its a bitch but part of nature's cycle. Quote
telemarker Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Climbers are generally very fit individuals. Climbing in a little smoke won't kill you. I've been climbing this week and feel fine, other than the random bloody nose and pounding headache I got today. You'll be fine... Quote
montypiton Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 This afternoon, Friday, September 21, from downtown Leavenworth on Highway #2, I cannot see Tumwater Mountain, Icicle Ridge, or Wedge Mountain. Leavenworth schools are keeping students indoors at lunch and recesses. Cashmere schools have been closed all week. Local physicians are telling us that residents will continue to exhibit respiratory symptoms for six months to a year after the smoke clears. National Weather Service issued a "Red Flag Warning" today for DRY LIGHTNING STORMS through the weekend... but the climbs aren't crowded... Quote
redlude97 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Was there on saturday but didn't venture into town or icicle. Stayed in the tumwater/castle rock area and there was no detectable smoke other than the smoke visible near the peaks. Quote
