Rad Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I need one that's kid-friendly. Ideally, it has a beach, you won't die if you fall down in the current, and it's not icy cold. Kids are 8, 7 and 4 and good swimmers. Thanks! Quote
Smoots Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 There are a few small beaches that meet your requirements along Waterfront Park and Blackbird Island. Info & Pics: http://www.icicleinn.com/activities/waterfrontpark.htm Map: http://www.icicleinn.com/activities/printwaterfrontpark.htm Another place where you may find a suitable spot would be one of the first turn outs off of Hwy 2 heading West out of Leavenworth. There is a small parking lot with a beach right there. If you cross the river on an old bridge and follow the trail up the West side of the river you'll see other swimming holes, although they may not have much of a beach. Bonus: if you follow the trail to the end (about a 1hr hike w/ kids?) you can find some Native American pictographs on the rocks. Have fun! Quote
montypiton Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 be advised that the present flow volume and temperature of the Wenatchee River is more typical of June than August. that means that ALL beaches still present significant exposure to current and hypothermia. we've already had one drowning at Barn Beach (downstream end of Waterfront Park)this year - that's the most popular, and one of the most forgiving, of the Leavenworth area beaches... Icicle_TV Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 The best swimming hole for kids in Leavenworth is our towns pool! Salt water pool, no chemicals and the diving board is kick butt! Quote
