climberpage Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Was at Mt. Erie Lookout wall yesterday and there was a lot of debris from a computer monitor and other computer stuff that someone threw off the summit wall I presume. Anyway, as there can be toxic parts of these if someone is headed that way maybe take a couple plastic bags and gloves to clean it up. I will if I go back but it might be a while before I get back. I will also call Anacortes parks dept. tomorrow. Quote
danhelmstadter Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 i'll be there today, and do what i can to clean it up. Quote
danhelmstadter Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Grabbed the busted monitor/glass, and a motorcross tire out of there. Â I'd advise anyone climbing in that area to wear your hard hat, I saw two differant groups throw stuff off the overlook while I was climbing there today! I asked one of the groups if they had dropped somthing, they denied it, when they had clearly just launched a branch twenty feet to the side of me. Quote
olyclimber Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Is there any sort of a sign up there warning people that there might be climbers below them? Not that that is going to stop everyone, but at least it will make them think about it. Quote
danhelmstadter Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I don't remmember seeing a sign, there's a memorial to a fallen climber, and some other climber related stuff near the parking area. a "climbers may be below" sign near the lookout seems like a great way to help prevent an accident. Quote
kurthicks Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 There should be a sign there. I've almost been hit there a number of times...bottles, cans, rocks, sticks, etc. Quote
