wayne Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Snow totals through the week on Baker are insane. Noaa Linky link Quote
genepires Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 lots of snow but it is at 10,000 ft. freezing levels are going up though. rain at stevens this wed thru the weekend. ugh. my glass is half empty. thursday night with 35 to 41 inches of new. Imagine if that much fell at 3000ft? Quote
Frankazoid Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) I'm gunna be shoveling snow at the low spots on chair 2 tomorrow (alpental). This heavy rain and wind tomorrow should make for such a pleasent day. Im sure i'll get to see some good slides above powder bowl though. It'll be exciting to watch some of those cornices go too. Pretty gnarly avy warning above '4000. Edited March 30, 2011 by Frankazoid Quote
Water Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 check those noaa links for the extrapolated data for adams and rainier @ 10k+ during storms. I've seen it showing 38"-41" for a 'night', then 31"-33" for the next day, etc, for a few days/nights. those extrapolated point-forecasts are a marvel of modeling and a dollop of deceit. frequently the 6k timberline post-snow measurements don't square at all with what the point-forecast for 6k were, at least on hood. Frankazoid Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 well just got back from work... raining heavy up there. Couldnt ski out of chair 2 cause shit was sliding all over the place. I skied out from chair 1 which was super grabby and not fun. Really really gnarly up there. We are remainging closed to the public until Fri. Quote
