AlpineK Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 It was pretty funny back a few years ago when some folks had built platforms with drip irrigation way up in the tops of trees at Seward to grow pot. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Doncha have to heat pot up to it's vaporization temp to activate the THC? Sounds like a loada shite. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Isn't baking temperature well above vaporization temperature? (Hint: the answer is yes). From memory, vaporization temp is between 100 and 125 C. Baking temps fall north of that by a ways. Edited June 12, 2009 by tvashtarkatena Quote
AlpineK Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I've thought of that. Despite temperatures of baking your statement is not true. Ingesting THC is the only thing you need to do. Quote
rob Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 You don't HAVE to heat it. It has nothing to do with vaporization point, or whatever. Heating just increases the solubility of the THC in whatever fats and oils you're cooking it with so that it can be more readily digested by the stomach. Also, heating it helps convert carboxylic acid THC derivatives into THC, thus increasing the potency of the product. But you don't HAVE to. THC is insoluble in water, so it just isn't as bioavailable to the human digestive system if not combined with fats or alchohol. That's why it works so well when you cook it up with oil or butter. You can also make tinctures. Or, so I've read. Quote
