I was curious if anyone could link or recommend a GOOD reference for the West Coast Trail.

I have a friend that said it was an awesome trip and I would love to check it out. I see alot of reference books, does anyone have a good and concise favorite?

Thanks in advance!

I've never done the WCT, so can't speak to the accuracy of any of the guides, but "Blisters and Bliss" has been around for 20 years and is now in it's fifth edition. While others may provide a different spin on things, B&B is probably as good a place to start as any. Small enough to carry with you, too.

O_W I was thinking with all the burly folk about, any chatting about mere hiking might be better suited to a forum for touchy feely discussion :) I was attempting to quell any spray in advance :)

I've never hiked the West Coast trail. I have done a day hike from near Bamfield out to the Pacific Coast.

It isn't, "burly," like climbing is defined. It is really cool though. We had to get a key to a canoe chain lock, hike, canoe, then hike over a ridge. The beaches there are spectacular and worth the effort.

There may be hamburger stands on the West Coast Trail, but there was none of that where we went. No other people either. Of course things may be different since the 70s.
