AlpineMonkey Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Is there any climbing history on this N. Ridge on Buck Mountain. The Beckey book says that Cal Folsom and another did a route up the N. Side, but the rock was loose and they warn others from not going here. Quote

dbb Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Hey C- From being on the face, I'm pretty sure that the Folsom route goes up the snowy/wet weakness in the center of the face. Rolf's route from this fall shares much of the same terrain. The rock on the face is shale-like, somewhat loose and compact. That might not translate to the ridge, but hard to say. I think Jens might have made an attempt on the ridge a few years ago. Quote

G-spotter Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 If you look closely there appears to be a geologic contact in the photo, running from about halfway up the ridge down to the base of the face. The rock above the contact looks darker and poorer quality than the rock below... Quote
