CollinWoods Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Does anyone know anything about climbing in the mountaineers gym. Is it anything like vertical world. Regular hours? Prices? An actual webpage for it? Just want to start gym climbing once week and get in climbing shape… Quote
tomtom Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 The indoor wall at the Mountaineers Clubhouse in Magnuson Park was built for scheduled classes and events for club members and guests. It will not be run like Vertical World or Stone Gardens. The wall isn't that big (only ~6 ropes and 20 ft tall), so it would probably get old fast. The outdoor wall and boulder were built by the Mountaineers and donated to Seattle Parks. They are open to the public when the park is open except when reserved for special events. The climbing plaza will be managed by Seattle Parks and the Mountaineers. Please go out and have fun. You can call The Mountaineers @ 206 521 6000 for more details. Quote
CollinWoods Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Thanks tomtom. Does anyone know how the boulder area is? Quote
Alpinfox Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 are helmets required? No, but gaiters are. Quote
tomtom Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 The Mountaineers reserves the outdoor walls through Seattle Parks for their field trips and other climbing events. Before heading over, you can check the calendar to see if the shorts and polypro crowd will be mobbing the place. http://www.mountaineers.org/calendar/ The outdoor wall is the S Plaza. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 are helmets required? Yes, with a name tag on the front. Quote
