Trip: Sahale - Sahale Arm

Date: 8/9/2008

Trip Report:

howheavythisaxe.jpg

So many men have fallen

So many more must die

Cut down like wheat beneath a scythe

And though our limbs may weary

Of ripping, slashing, cleaving blows

We face an endless host of foes

How heavy this axe

Burden carried from birth

Wrought in stygian visions

By the gods of the earth

Upon the hallowed mountain

The gods convene

To mourn the death of our ancient queen

Keepers of sacred fire

Awaken from your sleep

Drink from the cup of memory

How heavy this axe

Burden carried from birth

Wrought in stygian visions

By the gods of the earth

2.2 pounds.

we hiked up the arm, hung out at the glacier, got snowed on, whimpered back down after deciding no views+snowy rock made it not worth climbing up Sahale with the lowered fun factor (totally socked in and snowing on us). spent some quality time in the lil taco tent, waiting for things to abait, but they never did.

good times with a good friend, better than sitting around the house all weekend! Shout out to KingsMM whom we met up there.

well it was pretty much just a couple friends hanging out and the associated jackassery that anyone who has been anywhere around me knows all about.

we did have a fun time trying out these '3 years past the pull date Mountain House freeze dried meals'. i haven't really tasted anything quite so disgusting. "just add hot water for instant vomit". the mash potatoes and gravy with beef was especially sensational.

with no reading material other than a map, and crammed in a little BD Firstlight that we swore was going to blow away with us in it, we enjoyed a relaxing time discussing and speculating about the mysteries of the universe. unfortunately i left the iphone loaded with movies in the car.
