ryanb
Glad all involved are safe. Can you program the SPOT's with a custom message before you leave home?
RichDraves
You can send 3 messages with the SPOT: OK, Help, and 911. The "OK" and "Help" messages send customizable emails/texts to your friends. The 911 calls for a rescue. The "Help" message is targeted towards needing non-professional assistance from your friends, for example car problem at a trail-head. ryanb
Thanks for the info Rich. Seems like a nice last resort. I was wondering if you could program route details into the 911 message before big trips, guess only for the help msg?
RichDraves
I got my SPOT a couple months ago, only taken it with twice. I don't recall any ability to program the 911 message, just the "OK" and "Help" messages.
AllYouCanEat
More bad news. Off_White
I've moved and merged all the replies concerning Andie's terrible accident from this thread to the specific one regarding that incident. LINK Let's leave this one just about the incident with the happier outcome. thanks Off
