rob Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) So, I had grand plans on taking a newb out on her first trip to leavenworth. But, then I remembered, this weekend is the fucking Rockfest, isn't it? Any suggestions on moderate crags in the icicle to take my friend that aren't going to be infested? I was originally planning on taking her to clamshell and maybe around purina, but I'm guessing those are going to be crazy? Edited June 13, 2008 by rob Quote
fenderfour Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Bob Wall above R&D/Icicle Buttress is another fun destination. It doesn't see as much traffic as the lower crags. Quote
bwrts Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 the best bet is to drive to vantage or peshastin pinnacles and show your newb some of the best rock climbing areas in the state. BoB wall is only worth climbing if you are up there already via climbing Icicle Buttress. not worth hiking up hill... Domestic Dome has some descent slabby easy routes. Sam hill has a couple easier climbs and couple move 5.10's. Purina has some easier areas but spread out. Planet of the Eights has some easier climbs. There is new crags scattered around JY area with easier climbing... Quote
everyfrog Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 is rockfest as nuts as i have a feeling it will be? i've been out to L-worth but not during this festival. i'd thought of driving out solo in hopes of meeting up with friends there tonight in icicle canyon. or should i just stay at home this weekend? rob Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 is rockfest as nuts as i have a feeling it will be? If you get there early enough on Sat, you can go to the "Black Diamond and Petzl BBQ Dinner and Cocktail Hour." Thanks for the tips, guys. I'm sure we'll find something. Quote
