powderhound Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 just my 2 cents: The first two screws wouldn't have even kept the climber off the ground. next time don't waste precious time and energy placing gear that wont help. the ice looks sick and blue. jealous cause I am sitting in the library, studying tax, and peps are getting to climb some ice. G-spotter Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 just my 2 cents: The first two screws wouldn't have even kept the climber off the ground. While true, this step is 3 pitches up and they WOULD keep a fall to a 3m flop onto the ledge rather than a 3m flop onto a ledge followed by very quick descent of 120m of ice, snow, and talus with fatality waiting at the bottom. But 1 would be just as good as 2 for this purpose. Quote
Alex Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Maybe they were placing the screws on steeper ground for practice? Since the pitch is only WI3, maybe they should just solo it, like the rest of us?? I am surprised you didn't mention the penalty slack that would have caused the leader to deck no matter how many screws were in... Quote
northvanclimber Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Holy crap that curtain is big right now! Quote
dbb Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 wow, that curtain is so big I didn't recognize it. and I think powderhound makes a good point Quote
Jens Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 That step is about the fattest I've seen in 14 years of going to Lillooet! Quote
Alex Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 All the water that fed Shreddie last year is going to Rambles Right and Rambles Center this year. Oh well. Quote
