high_on_rock Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I propose a spring "Kids day" at vantage in about april, and make it a gear swap. Thoughts? e Quote
RuMR Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 we could also do a gym day just for introductory purposes as well... Quote
Paul_detrick Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 climbing at Vantage is like a gym. I would be interested in swap meet, I have had three kidds I brought up climbing. Ones still 9. Quote
minx Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 sounds fun...i'm sure i could make it over to vantage with my kid Quote
RuMR Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 ok...let's hear a date... Â i can't go until march or later... Quote
chucK Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I've always been leery of bringing my kids to Vantage because of the rockfall hazard. I guess the Feathers would be reasonable. The Sunshine Wall though with its rockfall hazard and the congested nature of the path seems like it would not be the best place to bring a whole gang of kids. Quote
high_on_rock Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 What if we just put the weekend of February 23 on the table. Thoughts? Quote
high_on_rock Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 well, I am guessing that those dates did not work for folks, any other suggestions? e Quote
Paul_detrick Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Maybe when it gets a bit warmer, feathers are a great place for kids. Quote

The Sunshine Wall though with its rockfall hazard and the congested nature of the path seems like it would not be the best place to bring a whole gang of kids. There are routes on walls below Sunshine that have less rockfall danger and yet are good for kids to climb. Hen House, Fat Man Wall, and Riverview Crags are examples. Quote
Al_Pine Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I would think that walls below the Sunshine wall would have even more rockfall danger as they are below the very crowded Sunshine wall. Quote
high_on_rock Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 I have taken my kids to the feathers for years and they enjoy the heck out of it. now that they can read, I will be "altering" some of the poetry in the outhouse, but the kids love the experience of being there. Quote
