KaskadskyjKozak Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Lame. The solo to Stairway to Heaven is not great. Neither is Freebird. I'd probably keep "Crossroads", but scratch my head at the others there in the top 10. Quote
dan_forester Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 there's exactly 1 song on that list of 100 that's worthy of note: "sultans of swing." that's my 2/100ths of a dollar, anyway. Quote
kevbone Posted January 21, 2008 Author Posted January 21, 2008 The solo to Stairway to Heaven is not great. Are you high? Its one of the greatest solo's of ALL time. I'd probably keep "Crossroads", This is a average solo. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 The solo to Stairway to Heaven is not great. Are you high? Its one of the greatest solo's of ALL time. The solo for Since I've Been Loving You is much much greater. Quote
pink Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 "bold as love" is one of my favorites but not on the list Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I didn't see either solo from La Grange, or Tush. They are high on my list, as is the outro solo on "Gimme all Your Lovin". Neal Schon has some tasty solos - if you can separate them from the 80's glitz rock. Stone in Love, something off Infinity. Quote
Lionel_Hutz Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 maggot brain No shit. The fact that maggot brain clocked in at 71 renders that entire list meaningless. Quote
kevbone Posted January 21, 2008 Author Posted January 21, 2008 Or Paco De Lucia..... Seems to me this list is 100 most popular guitar solos. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I didn't see anything from Schenker either. Rock Bottom, Love to Love, Try Me.... something belongs up there. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 there was a Beck near the bottom the man was a master of perfect note-bending. Quote
pink Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 heard it through the grapevine? john fohgerty? Quote
pink Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 there was a Beck near the bottom the man was a master of perfect note-bending. my bad Quote
pink Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 if kirk hammet and ace frehley can make the list then beck should be on the list. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Jeff Beck sucks balls. BTW, Eddie was a big Clapton fan - learned every solo of his by heart. He mailed Clapton a demo of his songs for VH1, and Clapton was not impressed (technical playing != "feel" for a blues man). And Beck kicks ass. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 if kirk hammet and ace frehley can make the list then beck should be on the list. Agreed on Ace, not on Kirk. Although every solo on Kill Em All is the same cliche's over and over again. Mustaine, OTOH has some great solos. "These Boots", for example. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 and on top that he's a republican Who? Kirk? He seems like a nice guy. Lars is an annoying a-hole. Quote
pink Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 mustaines a republican to, saw megadeth on election nite three years ago and called kerry a big pussy. Quote
