joshenj Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Anyone have any good or bad experiences with neoprene socks? Wondering if they really do keep your feet warmer and if they are comfortable. Good for winter? Higher altitude, ect. Quote
fenderfour Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I tried them out on a few trips. I went back to a typical liner/wool combo. They put wierd pressure on my toes that wasn't very comfortable. My feet stayed damp for a long time after removing my boots in the tent. They also did not wear well. Four trips and they were beat up. They were warm though. Quote
pink Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 i have neopren gloves but not much breathing going on. wore then on el cap one winter and my hands got pruned up.another good trick for climbing in the rain is a paddling jacket. you will sweat like a wrestler trying to make weight but you won't have water running down your ass crack and into your shoes. ScaredSilly Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I use them all the time for my feet. The ones I have are made by Gator in Salt Lake City. They are thin and lined. They stink after a few days of usage. I like the fact that they keep the sweat out of my wool socks which are heavy dachstein. I think the benefit comes more from multiple days out. However, you do need to let you feet dry lest you want trench foot. http://www.gator-sports.com/gator.swf Quote
crmlla2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I've worn them a lot for winter cycling - work great for that, but I can't imagine wearing them nonstop for days. They sweat. Quote
111 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 I second crmlla, they might work for a day but definitely not for extended use. Unless you are going to be tromping around in water or slush, wear proper wool or synth. Quote
