rmncwrtr
Although both teams suck, my alma mater beat Cal in The Big Game today. About time. Go Cardinal! IaHywTO6Fcs
archenemy
Any school that uses a color instead of a mascot has got to suck.
minx
i believe its the cardinal tree? not cardinal red?
archenemy
Nope. Its red. The tree is their symbol, not their mascot.
minx
no wonder i didn't go to stanford. i knew they were to clever for me
archenemy
they are too clever. They also have a great mausoleum on campus.
minx
yes, the campus has many lovely features including the mausoleum. it was an enticing opportunity but clearly i made a good choice. that mascot is a colour thing would've tormented me and ruined my college experience. tvashtarkatena
Nope. Its red. The tree is their symbol, not their mascot. Back when I was at Cal it was the Stanford Trees. Might have been unofficial, though. Go Bears.
archenemy
yup, that is unofficial. But the tree is still on the common graduation ring. Suprised no one has said they are offended by a Christmas tree or a pagen symbol yet.
tvashtarkatena
The difference between bears and trees? You only hug a bear once.
rmncwrtr
We used to be the Indians a long time ago but that offended some people. Then we became the Cardinal (color) and I'm sure others are offended by that. The tree is on the school's crest and is also the mascot that dances around with the LSJUMB (marching band which was so fun to be a member of.) And yes, Minx, we are quite clever

archenemy
I love the aging process. It is the little daily humiliations that I look forward to.
tvashtarkatena
That's why I like having a bear for a mascot. Bears, young or old, are always the same. Fat, furry, famished.
