Sol Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Where is Mount Morrison? I read an account of the Don/Julie route in the 1996 AAJ and haven't been able to find it in any beckey guides. The pic of it looks rad. Quote
klenke Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Here are eight (three in B.C., two in Yukon Territory, one in Alberta, one in Colorado, and one in California) Quote
Sol Posted November 7, 2007 Author Posted November 7, 2007 Thanks Klenke. From the AAJ account, it seems like its supposed to be in WA. Its across from Red Slate Mountain??? Quote
rat Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 near mammoth, ca. nice looking north face. rock is not supposed to be so good (for cali, that is). check secor's guidebook. Quote
Off_White Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 link to supertopo thread Here's some info on the Death Couloir, but if you're going to drive that far, this is not the peak you want. The big rock buttress is also notoriously loose and nasty. I think it's some sort metamorphosed limestone, and some of the oldest rock in the Sierras. Quote
G-spotter Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Is the Death Couloir the straight up thing on the left or the mellow looking line on the right? Quote
Off_White Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I believe the Death Couloir is actually the mellower looking one on the right. The Supertaco discussion is a little hard to follow, but I think they're all talking about the right couloir, and one fellow refers to the left as looking like it would take aid on awful rock to access it. That photo is supposedly unbelievably fat conditions, and it seldom looks that good. If you do it, it's mandatory that you post a Twight style TR. Quote
Sol Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 Well that makes sense. The AAJ puts an account of a new rock route on Mt. Morrisson in the WA Cascades section with an enticing photo of steep clean rock. Prolly just in the wrong section. Thanks for the info all. Quote
