troubleski Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 Do you think these boots are worth $160? They probably wouldn't see much use over the winter, but I am going to be looking for a new summer boot next spring anyway. I have read good things about the Trango S, how do they compare to the Plus? Quote
hasbeen Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 Are they new? Do they fit your foot? If yes, then they are worth $160, IMHO. I like mine for just about any summer climbing, from volcanoes to alpine. I've heard that the Trango S is a little more comfortable for walking (a bit more rocker?) but I can't compare since i've never worn the S. Quote
Figger_Eight Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 If they're the green ones you might be able to find them cheaper, but are still worth the $160 bones if they fit you. I saw some dude heading out to Liberty Ridge with them and some overgaitors. Quote
backcountrydog Posted October 12, 2002 Posted October 12, 2002 i climbed rainier in them. i think there fine for anything under 2 days. but unlike many boots, they fit my foot well. so that makes them good boots in my mind Quote
cooper Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 I'm looking for a pair of them in size 46-47. Let me know if any of your local shops have them discounted. PM a phone number if possible. Thanks Quote
Lambone Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 the trango plus is the green one right? if so, feathered friends has them on sale. the phone # is easy to look up yourself... Quote
troubleski Posted October 23, 2002 Author Posted October 23, 2002 I tried some of the Plus the other day... unfotuantly I also tried the S. Damn those things are lite and commfy. No sale boots for Troubski Quote
COL._Von_Spanker Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 I like my Trango s' except that they came unstitched at the heel on both boots in a total of 4 spots. I guess they fixed that on the second go at 'em, as there is a second row of stitching. The trangos's are a LB lighter that the old trango's and they have more rocker and and extra layer of cushon on the bottom. One word of advice though, the La Sportiva costomer service sucks!!!! (and don't bother contradicting me because I have copious emails going back and forth on the issue.) What this means is do not buy them online from europe, or while traveling in europe. I fixed mine with a big needle and gore dental floss. Quote

Sportiva Customers service SUCKS. and thier qulity lately had degraded trumendesly BUT thier price remain the same or even increased!!!!!!!... IMHO, The best boots I had experience with lately are the Salomon Pro-Ice one great boot (and build to last u a good amount of seasons) My second choice will be Garmont great boots as well Personally I have made it my personal mission NOT BUY SPORTIVA just because that those wankers have the worse reputation as OVER PRICED BOOTS, MEDIOCRE QUALITY and THE WORLD WORST "customers service" (an oxymora term when come to La Sportiva) [ 10-28-2002, 01:13 PM: Message edited by: IceIceBaby ] Quote
