MATT_B Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 There is a chunk of stone that I have been mildly curious about. I would like to find out who owns the land it sits on. Where would one go to find such things out? Would I want to go to the county? State? Anything on-line? Quote
MATT_B Posted May 23, 2007 Author Posted May 23, 2007 I'll show you mine if you show me yours . . . wait, what are we talking about again? Quote
corvallisclimb Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 The BLM district maps always are a good way to start. Then if not contacting the county should work. If you have any issues shoot me a PM I've dealt with this a few times recently... mabey its the same chunk! Quote
jhamaker Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 DNR has the state mapped out for public lands. Maps for sale in Olympia or by mail. Quote
AR_Guy Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Another way to do this is to get hold of a local title insurance company. If you know a tax ID number for the parcel in question (which you should be able to find at the county recorder/clerks/assessors) office on the assessor maps, the title company, if you ask nice, might be willing to look up the last deed on the parcel for you. Another way to find the likely owner is to get the tax records on the parcel, again at the local county assessors / recorders / clerks office. This isn't always 100% reliable, but it's usually pretty good to find out a name and mailing address. If you have a friend who's a real estate agent, they should be able to help you through this. archenemy Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Or, you can drop by Fred Meyer's and pick up the hunting regs. Private land is marked out with slanting lines over the area. Quote
MisterMo Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 What county? Some have that stuff online, as was pointed out above. On paper, Metzger's county maps used to have private ownership (of acreage) shown along with owner's name. Don't know if they're still around or not. Quote
