jlag Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Road's melted out to within 1.5 miles of the TH. If you got a burly truck with clearance you can push in farther. Saw 3 or 4 cars parked there, anybody here? Whatcha get on back there? Anyone? JL Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 the real question jlag is did you get stuck???? Quote
jlag Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 Hell no, thought about it just for old times. But i didn't have a bivy and my PLB. SE Ridge soon? JL Quote
letsroll Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 ONly 1.5 miles...mmmmmmm. But you did have your MLU along with your two way com. device???????? By the way I have the day off work friday, stupid "Good Friday." Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 1.5 miles is almost worth bringing the sleds for... plus it would be sick to build a booter and boost over crevasses on the hayden with the 550. I'm down for Friday or Saturday Quote
letsroll Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 build a booter...naa, just use the lip on the skiers left. Makes for a good gap jump. Quote
castlecrag Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 My buddy and I are heading out for turns Saturday. Current plan is broken top. Would one of the sisters be a better ski descent since we can get up Pole Creek now (or at least pretty close)? Recommendations, pleazz Quote
letsroll Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 middle sister via pole creek would be a good choice. Quote
castlecrag Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Would you recommend middle sister vs. Broken top this time of year? Broken top probably means shorter approach and looks like it has some good lines, but also much less vertical Quote
letsroll Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I would rather do the short slog to middle than the slog to broken top. Did it once to broken top and that sucks much ass!!!! Unless you are doing High noon direct BT is not worth the slog in the winter. Now if you have sleds that is a different story. Even with the half mile extra middle would be better. Look it up on summit post. Quote
neswstar Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 So.............. How did it go? Did you make it into middle? Any photos - or current beta on road access? Any knowledge of access thru 3 creek? Looking out to next weekend and tring to figure what direction to head - would appreciate feedback. thank you Quote
castlecrag Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Probably got a good amount of snow back on the trail with the stroms this week. we ended up doing broken top after all on sunday. It was quite the SLOG from the bachelor parking lot. I couldn't convince my friend to check out middle sister. Not much skiing on broken top for the distance we covered. Snow Machine is key back there. Next time I head out there it'll be on middle or north sister. Anyone ski the NE slope of North Sister (Thayer Glacier I think)? Looks like a pretty rad line Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 jlag saw someone on the SE ridge of middle when he was back there last week. i haven't skied the thayer but lots of folks do it. Quote
warrior1515 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 So.............. How did it go? Did you make it into middle? Any photos - or current beta on road access? Any knowledge of access thru 3 creek? Looking out to next weekend and tring to figure what direction to head - would appreciate feedback. thank you I was up at Middle last Sunday and Monday on foot with my dog. Sunday started out pretty nice and then the storm came. Monday was a complete white out and was back to the road by noon. As far as the road goes. If you have a 4runner or something comparable, you would have been able to park at the trailhead. Anything with less clearence you would have needed to park at the 10 mile mark. TH is 10.5miles. It was snowing at the TH, but nothing too bad. Basically, it was no problem getting into Middle/North Sisters. Don't know anything about 3 creek. HTH Dave Quote
