fear_and_greed Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 (edited) I just got a pair of these, http://www.bentgate.net/shskbyic.html SuPeR Phat powder boards. With my current light and fast setup I use my Scarpa F1 2 buckle boots, Dynafits, Volkl Nobert Joos 102-70-90, so pretty skinny skis, I have no problems with these boots driving these skis even in deep powder. I plan to use the new boards for more descent oriented playing - cat, snowmobile assisted and probably even heli skiing. I know I'll still be skinning up so I don't want any frankenstein boots and I am skeptical of the hype that says you need a 4 buckle boot to drive a fat ski. Any informed opinions out there on this? DirtyHarry Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 The buckle across the forefoot doesn't really do shit anyway so I can't see how 4-buckle boots make a big difference over 3. Quote
jordop Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 It's not a matter of how big the skis are, it's what kind of skiing you're going to do. All you need for powder is something to lean back on. Quote

cman Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 i got the garmont mega-ride no too long ago (4 buckle) and they are great. the performance is great, they ski much more like a standard ski boot, but are still light and tour fine. Â depends what you want for performance. my old boots were fine in good conditions but i got sick of the sloppiness in variable conditions. Quote
counterfeitfake Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I don't know about your huge boards and powder skiing. I do know that I like my very lightweight Garmont Mega-Lites (3 buckles) for almost everything, I only really wish I had something burlier on hardpack resort days. Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I have a 3 buckle boot with a power strap at the top. It's been working great for me for the last two seasons. Just as a qualifier though, I suck at skiing, so there you go Quote
