RuMR Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Man, i got my shoes back in less than a week from my ship date... Quality work as always...two pairs...he's now resoling with Onyx rubber as well as the old standbys (haven't climbed with it yet)...man, the shoes' soles stuck together!!! It was crazy... Broken in shoes with a fresh new sole! Quote
sprocket Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Just got a pair back myslef I think the shipping is about the same as tax so it ends up costing about the same. Wish I had known he had the Onyx rubber, ended up just requesting the C4 Oh well next time. This is the fifth resole for me and no problems whatsoever Quote

Broken in shoes with a fresh new sole! Man - the secrets out - I've been hounding Dave since the spring when the ONYX was gonna be ready. Just got my MIURAS with Onyx. Sweet Sweet setup now. Just in time for... Ski Season!!! doh. Now where are my Atomics.... Seriously - John does the best resoles I've ever seen - Better than when you take them out of the box NEW. My miuras are on resole 5 or 6 and STILL look top notch. Dropped mine off at VW Bremerton and had them back in less than 2 week (not sure of the exact time since I wasn't in there everyday) What ever system they have setup - it works fine and I still get my Ramuta Miuras (katanas etc) I wonder if Ramuta - Miuras will be like Saleen Mustang in enough years? sexual_chocolate Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 so like what is the word on this onyx product? rumr, you climbed it? Quote
sprocket Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I talked to a guy at the shop down at Smith (Red Point?) and his comment was that the Onyx is about the same as the C4 for stickyness but that where he was blowing through the C4 in a month and a half, he got almost a whole year on the Onyx. Jens Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I have two pair of the exact shoes (same size and everything) One has c4 the other has onyx. I can not tell the difference between the two. The wear pattern is the same also. Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 hehe, i think i just realized what the "onyx" means on the box of 5.10 anasazi velcros i just bought.... seems maybe a bit stiffer than c4. Quote
