That "scientist" makes some pretty ridiculous statements:

"Next time a muscle-bound guy in a sports car cuts you off on the highway, don't get mad -- just take a deep breath and realize that it might not be his fault," Ehrlich said in a statement.

The extrapolation from the observation of testosterone killing "brain cells" in vitro to speculations that this effect occurs in the human brain (much less that it has a behavioral effect) is laughable. Actually, it's not even that good... it's crap.

hey fox, be fair now, she at least said "might." wink.gif

that's status quo for research, seriously. the more applicable you claim your results to be, the more likely you are to get more funding and keep your job. and the jump from mouse to human isn't that astounding, really. certainly there are differences genetically, but mouse and rat studies are the beginning of a vast number of useful studies. they mature fast, have extremely similar [to us] immune systems, and they sound kinda like popcorn when you break their neck.

CP,

I clone and genetically engineer mice for a living, so I'm well aware of the advantages, limitations, and appicability of animal models to the study of human disease/physiology.

I'm sure if I read the actual paper things would make more sense, but her attempt to explain her research to the general audience in this case resulted in some pretty asinine and outrageous statements.

cool man, so I guess some post I read a while back about being unemployed isn't true anymore. bigdrink.gif

Yeah. I had a bit of hiatus. Three years of fruit.gif

I do research more in biochemistry/physics, and we're working on developmental studies in snaf.gif (rat) brains.

Fucking left wing propaganda you liberal shrill socialist pig. Everyone knows rats like cheese.

Pigs are actually very clean animals.

I can tell you many stories about pigs. They are not that clean. I remember after watching one sow chase me out of her pen...she went back and wolfed down two of the little piglets she had just given birth to the day before. Some might argue that this is just being tidy I guess, and I comprehend that arguement.
