Darren Posted November 29, 2001 Posted November 29, 2001 Maple Leaf Company or something like that is offering 9.6mm, 9.9mm and 10.5mm x 60m, dry treated ropes from Edelweiss for $99.99!! There's an add in the most recent Climbing mag. What's the catch? This price seems too good to be true for a quality 60m rope that's been dry treated. Any Edelweiss rope owners out there? What do you have to say about them? Any insight is appreciated. Quote
Wallstein Posted November 29, 2001 Posted November 29, 2001 I have been using the 9.8 x 60m this year and have loved it. It handles nice and wears really good for a thin rope. That price sounds about right. In yosemite they were selling them for 139. I would highly recommend edelweiss ropes. Quote
Bronco Posted November 29, 2001 Posted November 29, 2001 Darren, how about you enlighten us as to where you are finding the $99 deal. Quote
hollyclimber Posted November 29, 2001 Posted November 29, 2001 Mine is a 9.9 60 meter dual color dry rope. It seems fine to me, but I don't know the stats. I do know that it was purchased for me as a gift for close to $200 at Marmot in Bellevue. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted November 29, 2001 Posted November 29, 2001 I have several ropes by them they are all good. Quote
hollyclimber Posted November 29, 2001 Posted November 29, 2001 Its true. Call them at (800) 671-5323. I just bought an "Onsight"- duel color 9.9mm 60 meter dry rope for $106.90 including shipping. As they are shipping from Utah there was no sales tax. Thanks for the tip Darren. I needed a new rope and that was the right price. Duel color rocks, but it can be expensive. hgb Quote
bobinc Posted November 29, 2001 Posted November 29, 2001 I just got one, too. I had an E'weiss yrs ago and no probs. It was very easy to order via a simple e-mail. Quote
Darren Posted November 30, 2001 Author Posted November 30, 2001 Thanks for all the info, everyone. Bronco - I think the company is called The Maple Leaf Company or something very similar. They have an add in the most recent Climbing Magazine. The number is 800.671.5323. Call them and ask for a catalog. I'll be placing an order for a 9.6mm later on today. Quote
