Hook Creek - avoid it

I did not do a search so I apologize. Went and climbed The Mole on Saturday.

 

We went up Hook Creek. The fires in Icicle Canyon several years ago have made this a very difficult approach to the Rat Creek tower group. After you leave the trail to Yellowjacket Tower, you have to go through new vegetation growth and downed trees everywhere up through Hook Creek. It is about 1700 feet of elevation gain through this stuff and it is definitely time consuming. Rat Creek is also not recommended becuase we scoped this out too.

I agree! Anyone and everyone should stay the hell away from hook and rat creeks for their own mental health. Heli approach is THE only viable option.

There's no paved trail? But, how will the handicapped get there?

I propose a tram, but this may be a long shot since we weren't able to get a big hole bored into Mt. Cashmere.

I suggest mass demonstrations and protests until a telepherique is installed. This aggression just won't stand!!

Speaking of Hook Creek... I made alternate plans to jump some cliffs in Eastern Washington, because you never call me back Mr. Slaphappy... I still would like to do that jump up there!

How about hiking up Snow Lakes Trail and in over the Lost World Plateau to approach the Mole from that side? Can anyone relate their experience with that area?

I hiked out that way, and it was fabulous. (We came in over Cannon).
