joshenj Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Looking to climb Rainier June 8,9,10,11 or any combination of the dates via the Kautz Glacier route. Looking for some advice on the route and what to expect. Or especially if anyone has been up there recently. May have a spot or two on a rope team if anyone is interested. Quote
dbconlin Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Should be relatively easy in early june, steep snow, no ice is my guess. Easily doable in 2 days if weather cooperates. Quote
DPS Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I did the Kautz on Memorial Day weekend a number of years ago. We found it to be a straight forward snow climb, no ice. I would expect similar conditions in early June. Quote
Teleconvert Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Ditto to all of the above. We will be a party of three on the route over the same time period, having turned around this same time last year due to high avalanche conditions. The route was in great shape, other parties earlier in the weeks before us reported no ice in the chutes above camp hazard. See you there... Quote
RocNoggin Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 still have any room on your rope(s) for one or two more? Quote
