dan_forester Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 anyone hike up ruckel ridge lately? is there snow up there on benson plateau? Quote
Chad_A Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I was on Mt. Defiance about a week ago; I ran into deep snow right about 4000'. Probably not too bad; beware that trail if it's slick. If you fall off the "catwalk", you may be in for quite a ride...yikes. Quote
dan_forester Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 yeah, that's what I was thinking about...the catwalk wouldn't be fun if it's wet. Quote
billcoe Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Dude, you hanging out with Mazamas again? We need to get you on the one true path. It involves ropes. Quote
Couloir Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Dude, you hanging out with Mazamas again? We need to get you on the one true path. Ruckel ridge, Ruckel creek, Defiance...all good conditioners when you're looking for something different. If I'm short on time, I'll even hump up Munra Point with a heavy pack on for a good after work thrashing. I've come down Munra with a headlamp more than once. That's fun. Especially through that last rock gully up high. Good stuff! Quote
dan_forester Posted April 24, 2006 Author Posted April 24, 2006 Dude, you hanging out with Mazamas again? We need to get you on the one true path. It involves ropes. No, this was a date hike. No shorts over polypro... If anyone else is curious, the "catwalk" is dry, though there was snow on Benson Plateau, so there's a little routefinding involved if you want to return via the Ruckel Creek trail. Quote

I was just up there today, and, yes there is some snow up at Benson Plateau. Of course I got a little lost, but thats what fun about snow... Where is this "catwalk" you are talking about? Seemed like pretty much most of it was a "catwalk".... Quote
