Anti-gay slugs????

"SEATTLE - University of Washington men's crew coach Bob Ernst has thrown two rowers off his team after they admitted painting an anti-gay slug on a fence outside a teammate's home."

 

In light of the gay/ghey discussion in another thread, perhaps maybe someone here can enlighten me as to what exactly an "anti-gay slug" would happen to be.

 

I mean... aren't slugs hermaphrodites? Or am I remembering my biology wrong. And if you're a hermaphrodite, how can you be anti-gay?

 

I'm just so confused...
