John Frieh Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 To the two local WA climbers for grabbing the 3rd ascent of The Real Big Drip and the 2nd continuous ascent of Cryophobia. Awesome work! Quote
G-spotter Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 hasn't RBD had like 5 ascents by now? Ben Firth climbed it the year it went up, Guy climbed it earlier this wionter, then Raphael (?) and Wiill just did the first 3 pitches a few days ago... And Cryophobia got repeated by Will and Raphael last year or year before, too. So how is it the second ascent? Quote
DirtyHarry Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Who cares? Looks like a cool climb, I guess. Quote
John Frieh Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 I will only field questions from real avatars PS: name dropper Quote
G-spotter Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 well anyways i guess some of those guys only climbed the first couple of pitches of RBD but i guess i do not see tacking on the two pitches of wi5 up top to be extra noteworthy Quote
John Frieh Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 You mean like not slogging to the summit of a mountain after finishing a really hard technical route? Yeah... stopping half way up a route because the upper pitches aren't hard makes sense! Jesus dude... I just wanted to post some nice ice porn pics and give some props to some local guys for getting out and you decide to contribute by taking a big fat dump on this thread. I would think some one like yourself who actually climbs ice and understands how insanely hard this route is would be stoked. But no. Do us all a favor and stay in spray. Quote
Alasdair Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Yea hes been perfecting it for over 30,000 pathetic posts now. I think he ran out of usefullthings to say about 29,000 posts ago. Apparently after 30,000 all you can come up with is condescending bullshit. Quote
G-spotter Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 more like continuing up grand wall after ticking off genius loci... than summiting a mountain. the pretty pictures are cool but do the climbers need you to overinflate their achievements with internet hype? Quote
John Frieh Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 No they don't need me to promote them... the routes speak for themselves. And notice I didn't name any names. I just wanted to contribute some stoke material. Maybe I should stop posting all together. Quote
G-spotter Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 OK, but the info I have heard/read is that Cryophobia was repeated at least twice in 2002/2003 and at least once since then (think there was a year where it didn't form, too?), so in the interests of accurate reporting I would suggest this is not the "second continuous ascent" but more like the 5th. G-spotter Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 it wasn't on LTV. a couple of the reports are on gravsports. Quote
cj001f Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 it wasn't on LTV. a couple of the reports are on gravsports. funny enough, so are those pictures Quote
G-spotter Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 well but i don't see any claims on gravsports about 2nd or 3rd ascents eh? strange isn't it? Quote
DanielHarro Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Nice work guys!! That looks like an amazing climb!! I wish I could do it, maybe someday... Stupid school... Quote
