tbh Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 hey has anyone ever flown standby to Geneva or somewhere around there, how do you get back, do you have to pay an unreasonable fare to get back to the states. any other suggestions for cheap flights? I'm planning on going around the end of june. thanks Tom Quote
jkeller Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Check out skyauction.com. You can get some good deals, but most flights are from the east coast. It can cost as much or more to get from west coast to east coast as it will cost to get from east coast to Europe. Quote
tthirloway Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 no suggestions on cheap flights, but if you're looking for a climbing partner over there, i'll be around all summer. Quote
G-spotter Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 have you considered buying a large box and having yourself shipped? Quote
Dustin_B Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 find the cheapest possible flight to any city in Europe through orbitz, travelocity, etc or though a consolidator (STA travel also has cheap flights). Cheapest cities to fly into will probably be London, Paris, Amsterdam, etc. Then book a budget airline flight to Geneva on a carrier like Ryanair, easyjet, jetblue, etc. Â check www.whichbuget.com for those cheap flights Quote
jmace Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Dustin has it!!!!!!!!1 I think Amsterdam will be the best then its Easy Jet from there, I beleive if you make it to london then its Ryan air, my buddy went from Barcelona to London..think 15 euros..I did Geneva Barcelona for 31$ Quote
cj001f Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 think 15 euros thats the baggage fees alone on EireO'Flot now. If you've no bags and a 6kg carryon they are the cheapes (not counting the shit outof the way airports). Otherwise real carriers may be cheaper www.opodo.co.uk Quote
crackers Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 airlineconsolidator.com is a good start. Its much cheaper to fly from new york generally. I would disagree with everybody about flying somewhere else before geneva, except for london. Geneva is a hub for three airlines and you can often get good prices direct or one hop from new york. Check out Zurich as well. EasyJet and RyanAir are kind of a total pain in the ass due to the fact that they fly from places like stansted and are very anal about how much your luggage weighs. Quote
