Dru Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 what is that funny blue color in the sky? the sky is gray and wet Quote
roboboy Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 there was a perpetual backdrop of LA smog - the deep blue kind that we don't get here. Quote
Mer Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Ah the sunset, the rock, the grotto... I've been back for a week and this wet rainforest still seems mighty gloomy in comparison. Quote
EWolfe Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 I almost wish we had run out of money so we couldn't leave! Good to see you again, Mer! Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 You could have bummed enough food and water off of other climbers to climb indefinitely. You might have gotten really tired of telling your Mox Peak story, though. How many camp sites are there at Hidden Valley? Quote
EWolfe Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 Found a cave in the ouback that was WELL used. Had a crazy talk with Metolius Shawn, who just got out of the State Pen after spending a YEAR for slacklining in the park. He go out at half-time. Climbed the hardest 5.6 I have ever done. Fully enjoyed my 15 minutes of fame, thank you. Took 'shrooms on New Years Eve, and had an awesome time. I Love Joshua Tree. Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 (edited) A year in prison for slacklining? There's got to be more to that story. Spill. Is it this guy? http://www.rockclimbing.com/topic/59373 Edited January 9, 2006 by catbirdseat Quote
EWolfe Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 Yep. He did a 185' slackline (world record) in Ryan. It was his third bust. That's why, and herbalz were involved. Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I didn't know that California had a "Three Slacklines Law". Reminds me of the bumperstickers that say "skateboarding is not a crime". Quote
ken4ord Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Climbed the hardest 5.6 I have ever done. Which 5.6 was it? I climbed my hardest 5.6 in Jtree on the Outback Dome(?), the big dome up on the hillside. I thought it was harder than Gunks 5.6's Quote
EWolfe Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 Deflowered, in Steve Canyon area: 5.6 chimney. Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Okay, I'll buy that. So how did you approach that one, like a face climb, an offwidth, or a chimney (or all three)?. What a strange experience that was! Quote
Dru Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Deflowered is soft. Were you guys smoking with Chongo before you attempted it? Quote
Alpinfox Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Both Deflowered and Leaping Leana are challenging for 5.6, but they aren't that bad. I didn't think LL was that bad at all, just a little run out at the beginning. Deflowered you just have to make about three chimney thrutches and then it's easy. You guys are weak sauce! That "5.7" offwidth that MisterE led last year on the west side of (intersection rock I think?)- now THAT was hard! Quote
Alpinfox Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Which offwidth? Actually, maybe it was "West Chimney 5.6!!!" If so, that is hands down the hardest 5.6 I've ever done. But I think it was "Drawstring 5.7". Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Do you mean the SW Chimney on Intersection Rock? Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Which offwidth? Actually, maybe it was "West Chimney 5.6!!!" If so, that is hands down the hardest 5.6 I've ever done. But I think it was "Drawstring 5.7". Here drawstring is listed as a 5.8. Quote
