archenemy Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Where do all those extra genes end up? Certainly the same administration that won't let anyone mistreat embroyonic cells couldn't possible condone this wastefulness... Quote
cj001f Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Where do all those extra genes end up? Think of that the next time you are in E. Washington. Random collections of "extras", it explains so much. Quote

archenemy Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Where do all those extra genes end up? Â here... Â Â I think that kid was really playing the banjo in Deliverance. Is that true? Quote
archenemy Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 funny. Â but was it sound over, or does the retard actually play? Quote
TREETOAD Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 I think that he did. I just watched Deliverance last weekend, I haven;t seen it since it came out and it was actually pretty well done. The sex scenes were a bit vague though. Quote
archenemy Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 vague? what questions do you have that arise from them? I think they were pretty friggen clear. Quote
TREETOAD Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Well there didn't seem to be much foreplay, and was that a hillbilly bondage thing with Ed (played by John Voit) tied to the tree. Quote
sobo Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 funny.  but was it sound over, or does the retard actually play?  arch and Toady,  No, the kid (Billy Redden) did not play the banjo, but neither was it a sound over, according to this excerpt...  Billy Redden  This image is iconic in as much as it is rooted in American folklore, it triggers fears of loss and hopelessness in people. Billy Redden was not actually acting, he was the real thing and was not sufficiently expert in faking the playing of the infamous music sequence convincingly enough; ultimately another youngster was hidden behind his chair, with the task of providing the hand movements on the guitar.  Billy Redden is still alive and has made a second film with Tim Burton, Big Fish  ...which I got from this site. archenemy Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Cool. But this site has a funny quote: Â This 16-year-old boy from Rabun County, Georgia was the only "authentic" local to play the role of The Banjo Boy in John Boorman's disturbing hit movie of 1972 Deliverance. Billy was hand-picked from his local elementary school largely due to his "look" ( Billy's large head, skinny body, odd-shaped eyes and moronic grin had sadly branded him a poster-child for inbreeding and mental deficiency). Â The actual irony is that Billy was neither "retarded" nor even able to "fake" playing the banjo. Â Â Â Â I think someone who can't fake playing a banjo might qualify as being a candidate for retard testing. Nonetheless, I always wondered if he could play...and those eyes... Quote
MisterMo Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 I caught an interview with him on the radio a while back. He described being picked for the movie by people who came to his class. The banjo playing was done by someone reaching from behind. Quote
chirp Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 Wow, trying to digest all of those last few posts. LOL I still am unclear as to why they didnt just make a wax dummy with a person from behind. But then mebbe the whole underlying theme of the movie was about being the person "behind". odd odd odd Quote
TREETOAD Posted November 19, 2005 Posted November 19, 2005 or maybe that was just foreshadowing of the "squeal" scene, The kid was definately creepy anyway I wonder where he is now , maybe the whitehouse Quote
