PackOnMyBack Posted June 13, 2002 Posted June 13, 2002 Planning Forbidden W. Ridge this weekend. Does anyone have info on the CR road and/or trail into Boston Basin. Any and all info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Quote
BigWave Posted June 14, 2002 Posted June 14, 2002 If no one gets back to ya by the time you leave will you drop a line about the road when you get back? Heading up there Mon. Thanks Quote
JasonG Posted June 14, 2002 Posted June 14, 2002 Talking with some friends that climbed Sahale last weekend the road is open to the Eldorado trailhead (I think, but ask Geordie). Forbidden looked mighty alpine last weenkend with plenty of rime ice, but I assume that all the warm temps have melted most of that off. Have fun! Quote
Big_Wave_Dave Posted June 14, 2002 Posted June 14, 2002 Hey BigWave, nice name! You wouldn't be a Dave also by chance? We must be careful not to tread on each other's comments on the BB... Quote
Big_Wave_Dave Posted June 14, 2002 Posted June 14, 2002 Yes it's true the road stays blocked (gated) at Eldorado trailhead. Bikes are a good option for making some headway. Generally July 4th is opener weekend but this year a call to the Marblemount RS would be a good idea. Have fun. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted June 14, 2002 Posted June 14, 2002 Twiddle thumbs Open da road. Open da road! Quote
Alasdair Posted June 14, 2002 Posted June 14, 2002 When I spoke with the Ranger last weekend he said that the road was blocked by a huge amount of avi debris and it may be a while before it is opened. Probable past July 4. Quote
PackOnMyBack Posted June 14, 2002 Author Posted June 14, 2002 Thanks alasdair, Marblemount said there is a 2 mile walk from gate to TH, mostly snowfree, as is the lower section of the trail. True, but is more like 2.6 miles........... [ 06-17-2002, 11:17 AM: Message edited by: PackOnMyBack ] Quote
