Broken Alien Trigger Wire - PDX

I blew out one of the trigger wires on my purple Alien during this last trip. I could probably figure this process out, but has anyone in PDX ever replaced one of these? I have the wire attached to the lobe but will need the short cable, the small swage and then the big swage on the other side of the deck. Any metal working gurus willing to donate an hour or two for some TG?

get some high test fishing line (you just need a bit, so you may be able to steal some from a spool when nobodys watchin' ya at Fred Meyer or Home Depot) cut the old bits of wire off with some snippers. tie a double granny knot and thread the line through, pinch hold the cam lobes together, and somehow tie a knot on the other end nice n' snug against the hole on the other lobe (the crux). Violin! Cam's fixed.

weed wacker wire works great on camalots cuz they've got bigger holes. melt the knots into blobs with a lighter. they've held up for years and make your cams lighter too!

I've had good results replacing alien trigger wires with bailing wire. Other than being hard to work with (I have big hands), it does the job well.

Layton, you may be ahead of the game. The new Metolious cams use kevlar cord for their triggers. I am thinking about replacing my cams with some kind of cord.

Do you suppose 3 mm Vectran would be too large in diameter? Probably.
