thelawgoddess Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 has anybody ever gone to the ring cycle at seattle opera? would you do it again, or do you think it's something everybody should do once in their lifetime? and if you could only see one of the operas, which one would you recommend? Quote
archenemy Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 If you have the opportunity--do it. The Ring is not performed that often in the world. If you cannot do all four (a lot of opera for one week), go to whichever one you can. You won't be sorry. Quote
Dechristo Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 "...fat couples rolling their eyes at each other and singing insipid platitudes of love... it's rubbish!" Mozart in the movie "Amadeus" Â Quote
luwayo Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 (edited) Wagnarians must have leadened arses. i always fall asleep at the opera, but i love hearing about them from the enthusiasts. isn't Parcival by Wagner? i heard about the amazing architectural structure on stage, in Seattle. You'd be blown away by the special effects - in opera - who'd thunk, huh? Â you should go! my boss raves about Wagner. he's contemplating the ring cycle in Beroit. $$$$$$$$ i'm told some tickets are $10,000 for the week. sound's like it helps if: you know Wagner's relatives; are in the right pointy head set; or you're an aristocrat. Â BTW - which bike didya get? Edited July 7, 2005 by luwayo Quote

Dechristo Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Yeah, the employments of yogurt beyond ingestion have been amply applied in my household of three women. Â Contralto sopranos with vibratos so wild they stray off-key (imo) drive me up the wall. Quote
Squid Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Bugs Bunny killed Wagner for me.   I keep picturing Elmer Fudd running around, singing  "Kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit" Quote
