geordie Posted February 9, 2001 Posted February 9, 2001 Has anyone climbed the sw couloir on Spickard? Would you recommend it? Has anyone done the depot creek approach in winter or early spring? Quote
highclimb Posted February 9, 2001 Posted February 9, 2001 are you a north cascades native? you seem to be up there alot. Aidan Quote
none_dup1 Posted February 9, 2001 Posted February 9, 2001 I think Geordie is a ranger out of Marblemount. Am I right? John Sharp Quote
geordie Posted February 9, 2001 Author Posted February 9, 2001 yes, I'm a seasonal ranger. No I'm a Seattle Native, raised in Olympia. Now a gripe. This bulletin board is beginning to look like a PG13 version of the mountaineers bbs. Someone asks a question and the community feels like they have to answer even if they have little to say. The Captain and Colonel Crags of this world have made this site amusing, but they're really a turn off to many climbers who could find this site useful. If you want to argue this point, open a new thread. If you want to find out more about me, send me an e-mailk. Spickard deserves better. Quote
ColonelCrag Posted February 10, 2001 Posted February 10, 2001 Point taken. It was a private joke anyway. We're oughtta here, better things to do. ------------------ Colonel Crag Leader of Rebel Group Quote
highclimb Posted February 10, 2001 Posted February 10, 2001 geordie, you been out climbing lately? in the mountains around marblemount? Aidan Quote
joe_catellani Posted February 14, 2001 Posted February 14, 2001 I've heard of people going up depot creek in april or may to ski, in fact it's listed in John Baldwin's ski guide to the Coast range as a trip. a potential problem is the road around Chilliwack Lake is often rough or trashed every winter by weather, you may not be able to drive it very far. check with BC provincial parks re: road status. if it's too warm you'll have a interesting problem with the waterfall! Dru Posted February 14, 2001 Posted February 14, 2001 On the other hand, considering Joe's point about the waterfall, you could get a nice FA in if it was frozen! How many 500 foot grade 2's are left unclimbed around here? Quote
