swaterfall
Well, it's not a true photo onslaught (only 4 pics) and it's not from the Cascades (you know this b/c there is actually snow in the pics). But Kailas and I got out this morning for some quality turns on Red Mountain Pass. Here's our route up. We dropped over the top of the shoulder in the upper right of the pic. Red Mountain #3 in the background. No ones got the cajones up to ski that since the last storm. The d00d making some nice turns before we dropped into the steeps. Here's our aprroximate line down the steep section. It's a good 1400 - 1500 vert. that sits at about a 40 degree angle. Too bad about having to traverse above the rocks, although those are cliffs in the summer.

Billygoat
Sweet! Do you guys live in the ride or durango? Or some yurt outside of ridgeway...
JoshK
The cascades now have more snow than the rockies do at least around the summit county area.
swaterfall
BG in Ouray Josh, technically I think that Scummit County is actually part of Texas, that's why there is no snow.
thelawgoddess
summit county ... pfft. it's got nothing on the southwest corner of the state. ;-)
JoshK
Yeah, i know that. I need to get down the SW. The summit county area is pretty overrated. It just happens to be near where everybody lives. I guess the southern CO rockies have had one of the best years in quite a while. Too bad it's such a drive for me. -josh
barkernews
What's that white shit all over the mountains?
JoshK
Skykilo and I skied Quandary peak the other day in a storm. Man the wind on the ridges of the divide just totally sucks. It was a great time tho...made an easy mountain much more exciting.

kailas
Snowed down this way 7 days straight, at least up high, expected to continue this week as well. Cascades usually get more snow than CO can only dream about, thats why u have glaciers!!
