Walnuts, yes. Like em alot. Got them as a second set to complement my set of BDs and would definitely recommend them.

Just be aware if you are mail ordering that the sizing is different from Stoppers. A #1 Walnut is about a #4 Stopper, and they roughly correspong from there with a #10 Walnut being the largest, roughly the same as a #13 Stopper. The DMMs smaller than that are the "Peanuts".

Don't know about the Omegas. Sound somewhat similar to the Met. curve nuts, which IMO suck. Everyone I know who owns those Met. are not thrilled with 'em. $0.02

The tri-nuts are actually a different design. the cross section looks like a triangle with all the points cut off, so you actually get three different widths out of it instead of the traditional 2 you get of most nuts. Though you sacrifice a little rock contact area on the cut-off-triangle point side.

I bought a set of trinuts to check out and they are pretty much worthless except in rare specialized placements. To be fair, to some extent you have modify your pro worldview to really use them to their full potential. Not to be a [complete] ego-maniac, but I'm pretty fair with pro after all these years and those babies went on ebay the night after I took them out the first time...

DMM WallNuts - hmmm, this one really steams me! The lame, weak [slim] bullshit that passes for a WallNut after the grand re-design destroyed what was best about them suck as well. The old design was infinitely superior, but they had lots of complaints about them getting "stuck" too easy (obviously by folks that set their stoppers relentlessly). Thank god I got two sets of them before they were offed. If any of you folks fall into the "hated them" category and have old, fat WallNuts, give me a shout as I'll take them all.

Oh, and new DMM Wall Nuts compared to Metolius Curve Nuts - hands down the Metolius every time, any time - in fact, I'd take original Chouinard stoppers before the DMMs.

Im pretty fond of Frost nuts and old school stoppers..technoillogical advances in the design of the "stopper" have gone over the top and are now too gimmicky.

Will and Joseph, are we both talking about the new Wallnuts? Forget the old as they are not available. What is it about them that makes them complimentary to the BD (=Smiley)?

Tri-nuts suck. Tried them, I'm old and don't get it.

Don't really know Dmm wallnuts. Metolious nuts seem to get stuck real easy. I would not buy them. It wasn't just me, last year in the valley, one of the campmates had a set, we all tried them and in the end they were left in camp. I think there are leads where you get gripped and give the normal tug to set a nut, and in that instance, your 2nd gets F*ed trying to get it out - much much more than regular BD or Smiley nuts which work great anyway to start with.

But thats me.

Bill
