Hit Peter's Stiftskeller (sp?) in the old part of town; supposedly the oldest bar/restaurant in Europe. There's another great restaurant right down from Mozart's house where part of the restaurant is over the street; small, intimate rooms for fine dining - don't remember the name (and I won't bother asking my ex-wife!! [Wink] ).

As far as climbing: climb the stone walls along the river or climb the outside of the fort on the hill above old town.

Skip climbing gyms; go ski in St Anton for a week. If the snow is good in the lower elevations already, and you like to party, go ski Saalbach/Hinterglemm for a week. Saalbach is very close to Salzburg. January is low season, and everything will be reasonably priced. [Cool][Wazzup]

yep, will be skiing some as well, as apparently my Austrian squeeze and his clan were born with skis attached already or something like that. Sadly, I'm a much better climber than skier. Also, just wanted to get a start on finding a climbing crowd in the area in case I move there.

thanks

You will become a much better skier after a tour in Austria! No better challenge than to get with a group better than yourself, barely speak the language, and have to push yourself to keep up. You will leave Oesterreich as a profi!

Enjoy!
