Sol Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Does anyone have any beta on linking pitches on the town crier at index? I know there is a couple of extra belays and figure theres got to be a way to shorten the climb by a pitch or two. Any thoughts? thanks, . Quote
glassgowkiss Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 i was thinking u were talking about pope and (d)winer team, but then it would be town clownpunch-fader, sorry for spray... Quote
specialed Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Its been a while since I did it but I know you can link the first two free pitches and the last two aid pitches. You can probably link some of the ones in the middle too. Quote
Farrgo Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 when i did it last spring, i linked the last two pitches easily. i would think that if you linked the first two, you might run into a lot of rope drag? Quote
specialed Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Yeah some rope drag. Climbings easy though. Use long runners. Quote
dberdinka Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Rope soloing it's easy to link P1/P2 (the free pitches) Then link P3/P4 (First aid pitch then triple roofs) Â I've always done a 140-150? pitch from there, then one more easy, short pitch 50'? to the anchors below the chossy gully. Not sure if the last two pitches link in 60m, regardless it would be real close. Quote
Farrgo Posted February 4, 2005 Posted February 4, 2005 frosty, having done the route, I don't think I would even finish the last two pitches, if I did it again. It seems that all the fun was in the first two aid pitches, and the rest was just there. something to think about. Quote

I've done those last pitches by linking in on the Green dragon and I can see where your coming from. But, call me a traditionalist, cuz I just don't feel like i've finished a route until I stand on top of the wall. I had a vendetta with the last pitch of the green dragon until this past December. When I did finally finish that pitch on like my 5th or 6th time on route, it was the first time it really felt complete. it's different for us all though, word. Quote
