rhyang Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 http://www.northernmountain.com/NMSmain.asp?Option=Detail&ID=CHAMOSAztarexIceHammer (oh dear god no I don't need another ice tool ) Quote
Dru Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 it's the 2005 aztar with a new name and a new grip and the same pick Quote
DPS Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 (edited) Its the alpine version of the Aztar. Its the lightest tool I have swung. The pinky rest is silly, but should break off the first time you plunge it into hard snow. Edited January 20, 2005 by danielpatricksmith Quote
forrest_m Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 pinky rest is removable and nests inside the shaft - so that you can whip it out at the belay if necessary for the next gnarly pitch. (as long as you don't mind fidding with an hex wrench...). what i can't figure out from the pictures is if the shaft is completely bare or if it has some kind of grippy texture. Quote
NYC007 Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 yeah, there is no grip, a lil grip tape would be nice. Like the grivel light wing Quote
Rafael_H Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 See one of the latest Gripped, there is a photo of Barry Blanchard on a first ascent with one of these. Quote
Harkin_Banks Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 OMFG tell me where to buy it now then I wonder which of my 8 crampon pairs will match up with this Quote
NYC007 Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 I think that was philip Pellet?, the finger rest was a lil different Quote
John Frieh Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 I think that was philip Pellet?, the finger rest was a lil different It was. He had a cam hook like object taped on. Good article though it was confusing: did they get the FA or not? Quote
Ade Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Oh well if some alpine superstar is using them I'd better buy six. Quote
Harkin_Banks Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 there, now that's the spirit, the american way Quote
