Thrill Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Does anyone know the status of St Helens? Is it still closed to climbing? Quote
barkernews Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 You mean hiking? Yeah... unfortunately, it's still closed. Quote
Thrill Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 yeah hiking. LOL what's up with that? Quote
Blake Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Closed for all winter, and nothign for sure beyond that, as far as I know. Sno-parks such as marble mountain are also closed to discourage recreation on the slopes. Quote
Ricardo_Montalban Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 the recent issue of powder has an article about st. helens backcountry. article was kinda lame, but one line said 'FS officials anticipate opening the area to climbing next spring'. not sure if there's any authority behind that statement but it's enough to keep my hopes up. iain Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I really don't care about St Helens at this point unless I'm looking for a nice base grind. Quote
Ricardo_Montalban Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 no way dood, we're gonna get massive snow soon! seriously, i feel like the spring corn season just ended...not that it ever began. i figured that with a sprained ankle, big snow would come dumping in. sorry y'all, i tried to work murphy's law for you. Before this rain event, looks like St Helens had some of the deepest snowpack in the state: http://www.skimountaineer.com/CascadeSki/CascadeSnow2005.html Quote
