ChocChick
I just acquired a pair of DMM Fly's (both hammers), 4 express screws, 4 Yates Screamers, and an extra pick with adze for $50! My ice climbing partner got all new gear 'cause he makes good money. He practically gave me this stuff! My boyfriend, who I am teaching to climb, is going to have a great Christmas!!!! This is the best deal yet!
Dru
DMM Flys are so called cause swinging one at an ice route is about as effective as swinging a flyswatter at a mastodon.

That's cool you're teaching your bf how to climb. A reversal of the stereotypical role. Very cool.
ChocChick
DMM Flys are so called cause swinging one at an ice route is about as effective as swinging a flyswatter at a mastodon. Well, they may not be the best tools for him, but if he decides he doesn't like ice climbing - it will be better to have paid $50 than $500. Still, it was a good deal. No one gave me a "starter" pair of tools! I didn't break the bank, and now I have more money to travel to get to the good ice - Colorado, Utah, Banff, eh! I love ICE!!!!!
