The Tooth

Hey anyone know if it is possible to ski up to the tooth and do a little climbing up there? Someone mentioned it to me the other day, but I wasn't sold on the conditions being great so I thought I'd ask around here.

Skiing: yes but take your rock skis and check avy conditions on the approach/route.

Climing: depends on route... which one you hoping for?

I don't think there's enough snow to make it worth bringing skis.

ski up sure, but agree with cracked, not many turns on way down and you'll likely break something navigating the boulders

from what we saw on Sunday on the way to Chair, I wouldn't take skis at all until we give considerably more snow

The skiing up to the tooth looked very bare on sunday, with hard bunch crust and dirt in places up the source drainage. The tooth basin had some wind blown deposits of nice dry snow, but the majority was ice, punch crust, or large boulders. I would probably wait.

especially since Trogdor has been there...

I was up at source lake yesterday... snow conditions still seemed quite thin for skiing above the lake (although visibility was limited).
