Illini Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Buck has a model and so does Petzl. I personally use a small Spyderco slung on glow cord. Someone has finally put some thought into what a climber really needs. It's light, can't open when clipped to a biner but most importantly it has a bottle opener. Great. Great. Great. I've been really impressed with Trango's product design of late. Quote
Illini Posted November 11, 2004 Author Posted November 11, 2004 How does it work on arms? Who knows? I perfer not to climb alone and I don't go canyoneering. Perhaps you should climb with a... if you are worried about it. Quote
Dr_Crash Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Petzl has two models. I have the large (non-serrated blade) and it's a nice sharp knife. I am going to replace my knife and BD nut tool with Trango's shark. This way I save some weight and can lose two things at once when I'll drop it (thanks CBS for the dropping idea ). drC Quote

AlpineK Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 someone remind me why you need a knife while climbing. I can see it if you're cutting webbing for rap anchors, but how often do you do that. Someone's been watching too much exxxxtreeeem tv/movies. Quote
crazyjizzy Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 AK, You'll need something to protect you from all your new friends who want to kick your ass at the other sight. At least rat, TFM, and me are too busy to deal with you. Good luck. Quote

There's a flick called 'Saw' in the theatres now which will show all you need to know about sawing off your own limbs. Quote
Dr_Crash Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 someone remind me why you need a knife while climbing. One thing is certain, we *DO* need the bottle opener and the corkscrew. Why hasn't anybody made a combo nut tool + knife (to spread the cheese ) + corkscrew? We can open beer bottles with carabiners, duh. drC Quote
