MtnHigh Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Climb: Hood-Coconut Slurpee Date of Climb: 11/6/2004 Trip Report: Spurred on by Hal Burton's post, Drew and I changed our plans to climb Adam's Glacier and headed up the Eliot instead. The road is passable with 4x4. We were able to drive to within a mile of Tilly Jane parking lot. Sweet! The hard man The NF. Looking tasty. The ice was in excellent shape. Good sticks. Higher up only stubby screws were used, and twice I bottomed out into rock. There's a little over 200' of ice plus you have to travel a ways after topping out to anchor in, so splitting it up into two pitches is necessary. Eric and Pat's Coconut Cookie Crumble, the climb to the left looked really wet. Quote
layton Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 The ice iz gettin thinner and wetter wit the warming trend. nice job btw. Quote
barkernews Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 How long's the hike in? Did you guys tele in or just walk? Quote
MtnHigh Posted November 8, 2004 Author Posted November 8, 2004 Depends on the snow conditions and how far you can drive up the road. From Tilly Jane it takes 2-3 hours to get up there. We booted it in which is OK right now. The snow is soft below 6000' in the trees, but it's rock hard above treeline. Quote
