Balanced rock

Went out to colchuck lake this september with my girlfriend with plans to climb serpentine on dragontail first, then the west face of colchuck balanced rock. luckily for me we got snowed out near the top of dragontail and had to abandon the balanced rock climb (I was super intimidated of that roof). Wondering how often the west face gets climbed? how stout is the 5.11 up there? I'm into attempting to free the long corner crack I just don't know about the roof. what's the roof pitch like for the leader if it is aided(gear, grade,etc.)? or the follower, if jugging? thanks.

Something screwy's up with the gallery. It looks like a lot (all?) of the medium sized pix got expunged or moved or something. Unfortunately, the way the post TR function works it automatically puts the medium-sized pix into the TR's (I think).

 

Anyway, to find those pictures you can go to skyclimb's member gallery ( link) and look through the thumbnails and find the shots. It's a pain to find the member galleries too! Oh well.

 

If in the future you find a TR with missing pix like this you can also get the URL of the picture (right click on the little red X's) and remove the "med" from the name which, I think, will get the URL of the giant picture (which still exists).

I think that shit gets climbed alot. I know 3 parties who did it this past summer and I'm sure there were more than that. Its a sustained hard climb but its super clean rock, solid pro, and not too long. Plus its in Nelsons book.
