RuMR
the other day i was surfing and found a rope that passed certs for half, twin and single rope tests...I can't for the life of me recall which rope it was... anyone know which one it is??? Dru???
Dru
Useless "functionality". You could buy a lighter half or twin, and it'll get trashed fast if you use it as a single. Just like those amphibious cars - not very good boats, and slow and gas-guzzling on the highway.

chriss
I remember seeing an ad, I think it was Bluewater, that said they had a rope that would pass the 1 and 1/2 tests. It did not mention the twin. This is impressive in itself. Getting it to pass all 3 tests... chris
RuMR
you are right...it is bluewater and i made a mistake...it only passed the single and double not twin...
ashw_justin
How could it possibly not pass for a twin if it passes for a single? Or even as just a 1/2?

RuMR
i don't think they can even rate a rope for your fat ass, bitch!! They tried it with one weight equivalent to a DFA and it broke the friggin' rig!

chriss
http://www.alaskamountaineering.com/Product.cfm?id=694 Beal Joker 9.1mm (not on Beal site) I think this is quite an advancement in rope making. It seems they are working to get a more predictable force verus stretch performance from the material and/or design. Just barely passed the single rope test though. chris (edit to fix link) Edited October 11, 2004 by chriss
